More than a week ago, I first came in contact with the art of INKonBTC. An alpha group told me to keep an eye on the message from zetman.eth. Right now, that seems to be a good move.
For months, this is the first project where I see so much hype (besides NodeMonkes). The Discord server reminds me of the OG NFT days.

But what is INKonBTC, what does the art stand for and what do we all know at this point?

Where it all started

On December 29, Zetman started a real storm on X. Everyone started talking about this post. I think everyone was stunned by the art, which is not without reason because it is 100% hand-drawn and created by a DC/Marvel artist (more about him later).

In addition, it could be fully customized for you with your input. But that is not it, what if I tell you it will be fully inscribed on-chain on unique sat, non-recursive, non-HTML? INSANE RIGHT??

If we can believe the words of Zetman.eth, this is going to happen.

January 1 - The first tweet

On January 1, New Year's Day the first tweet on INKonBTC's account was posted. This is when the hype really started. All alpha channels talked about it, my X timeline was full of it.

It was literally everywhere.

But what is Phase 1 and maybe 2?

The first collection or first phase will consist of 150 pieces. As indicated earlier, these 150 pieces will all be 1/1.

Phase 2 will start after Phase 1 ends.. Just not much information about that yet.

Artist

One of the most important aspects of a project on BTC is the art. However, great art is not possible without a talented artist. Let's discover who the artist really is.

The lead artist and art director for INKonBTC is Joeydodd5 (refer to the link provided above). Joey is a former (or current?) artist for DC and Marvel. He graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, specializing in digital illustration and oil painting.

Joey Dodd is an Illinois-based artist known for his work in various fields including toy design, comic books, and video games. He has a significant career spanning over 15 years and has been associated with major companies such as Hasbro. His artistic creations include designs for superhero toys and characters from Marvel, DC Comics, and other notable franchises. Dodd's artistry covers a range of genres, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in the creative industry​​​​.

The early birds in the server just had the first-ever live session with Joey creating an ink drawing. It was an incredible session, enjoyed by all. Excitingly, it has been announced that new live sessions will take place every Saturday.

Art

The art is phenomenal if you ask me. All the 1/1 I've seen so far are impressive. It shows a detailed rendering of different portraits or creatures. The use of a vivid orange background contrasts strongly with the black and white of the drawing, making the figure stand out even more. In addition, the orange background directly links to the BTC/Ordinals chain.

The whole thing is clearly hand-drawn, attesting to the skill and time invested in creating this artwork

INKlist

Probably one of the most important things for you guys to read this post... How to get inked? Or how do I get on the INKlist?

InkonBTC is using an invitation-only policy for Phase 1.

Their objective is to introduce individuals to ordinals by integrating exceptional art, communities, and intellects within the Web3 realm.

Artists, developers, influencers, and founders who have significantly contributed to the development of their respective domains are currently being invited. I'm not going to lie, but I'm 1 of this group of people IMO🤣

INKlist represents the elite of Web3. Think of Bitgod, Tosyo, Mr.Soul and Ordlord

Right now it is extremely difficult to get a spot for this 150 1/1. The team also indicates this several times in the discord. But there is always a chance.

Personally, I don't want to go back to the old NFT hype days. Grinding all day in Discord without adding any value whatsoever. I believe it is also not the goal of this project and/or team.

My advice is not to do that either, commitment and engagement is good but think about your health.
